On March 22, 2005, One Connecticut hosted a "Forum on Property Tax Reform" at the Legislative Office Building.
Speakers included
- Myron Orfield, Associate Professor Law and Director, Institute on Race & Poverty, University of Minnesota Law School.
- Wendy Lecker, Staff Attorney at the Campaign for Fiscal Equity (CFE).
- Jim Finley, Associate Director, Connecticut Conference of Municipalities for Public Policy & Advocacy.
Speakers addressed the importance of a regional strategy of support for municipalities and the critical services required by Connecticut residents and the continued reliance by the state of Connecticut on property taxes to fund education. Creative strategies and campaigns around the country for addressing these issues were discussed.
